The 2027 Ding Wei (丁未) Year in BaZi
Updated October 26, 2026
In BaZi, 2027 is the 丁未 (Ding Wei) year. Below is what its elements mean, which chart branches it interacts with and which god it brings to each of the ten Day Masters. One important caveat first: what follows is a general layer. A year is read only together with the whole chart and the current Luck Pillar; this is a description of the period's tendencies, not a forecast of events.
The 丁未 year at a glance
- The stem 丁 (Ding) is Yin Fire: in the tradition, a candle flame or a hearth fire. It is focused, warm, "pinpoint" Fire — attention to detail, to the people nearby, to meaning.
- The branch 未 (Wei, Goat) is the Earth of the last summer month: warm, dry, accumulated. The Hidden Stems of 未 are Ji 己 (Yin Earth, the main qi), Ding 丁 (Yin Fire) and Yi 乙 (Yin Wood).
- Start: 04.02.2027 at 06:46 Tashkent time, at the moment of Lichun (立春). Anything earlier still belongs to the 丙午 year. The 丁未 year lasts until Lichun on 04.02.2028, when the 戊申 year begins. Why the year is counted from Lichun rather than 1 January is explained in the article on the annual pillar; the month boundaries for 2027 are in the article on the month pillar.
After the 丙午 year, where both stem and branch are Fire, 2027 stays warm, but its Fire is softer and its Earth more noticeable. The branch animal, the Goat, is only an illustration: a branch on its own says nothing about a particular person.
Interactions of the 未 branch
If your chart contains the following branches, the theme of the corresponding palace usually becomes more noticeable in 2027:
- The 丑未 clash — with the Chou 丑 branch. The tradition associates a clash with movement and change in the area of that palace (more in Branch Clashes).
- The 午未 combination (六合) — with the Wu 午 branch. Schools differ on whether to read it as Fire or Earth.
- The 亥卯未 Three Harmony combination — Wood: if the chart has Hai 亥 and/or Mao 卯.
- The 巳午未 seasonal combination — Fire: if the chart has Si 巳 and/or Wu 午. On combinations, see Branch Combinations.
- The 丑戌未 punishment and the 子未 harm — this is how the tradition reads them; the Bazi.uz reading does not use them yet.
How to read the sections below
For each Day Master three gods of the year are given: for the stem 丁, the main qi 己 and the hidden 乙 — following the rules of the Ten Gods. A lot then depends on Day Master strength: what helps a Day Master leaning weak differs from what helps one leaning strong. So each section describes what the period may favour and where to be more attentive, but it does not say whether the year is "good" or "bad". Your own Day Master is the stem of the day pillar in your chart.
Jia 甲 (Yang Wood) Day Master
For Jia, the stem 丁 is Hurting Officer, the main qi 己 is Direct Wealth and the hidden 乙 is Rob Wealth. The year joins self-expression with practical results: the period may favour putting your ideas forward, turning a project into a product and getting a clear return for your work. In the tradition, Hurting Officer is linked with a drive to improve things and to argue with rules, so it is worth watching your tone with management and formal structures. Fire and Earth drain Wood: for a 甲 leaning weak it matters especially to pace yourself and lean on the favourable elements — Water and Wood, if the Luck Pillar brings them. Rob Wealth inside 未 hints at competition over shared resources, so in joint projects it helps to agree on shares and roles in advance. If the chart has 亥 or 卯, the tradition sees the 亥卯未 Wood combination as added support. In the second half of the year the Water months 亥 and 子 (from 7 November and 7 December 2027) bring Resource, and the load usually feels lighter.
Yi 乙 (Yin Wood) Day Master
For Yi, the stem 丁 is Eating God, the main qi 己 is Indirect Wealth and the hidden 乙 is Friend. This is a calmer version of the same "expression plus results" mix: the period may favour craft, teaching others, content and projects with flexible income where spotting an opportunity counts. In the tradition, Eating God is self-expression without conflict, with enjoyment of the process. Friend among the Hidden Stems supports 乙 and points to alliances with people at your own level. Fire and Earth take strength from Wood, so for a Yi leaning weak it is worth not spreading yourself across too many opportunities at once. For a Yi leaning strong, by contrast, the year usually offers a good outlet for energy. As with 甲, having 亥 or 卯 in the chart is linked in the tradition with the Wood combination. The spring months 壬寅 and 癸卯 bring Water and Wood and usually act as support, while the summer months 丙午 and 丁未 emphasise the theme of expression more strongly.
Bing 丙 (Yang Fire) Day Master
For Bing, the stem 丁 is Rob Wealth, the main qi 己 is Hurting Officer and the hidden 乙 is Direct Resource. It is a year of your own element: for a 丙 leaning weak it usually adds confidence and support, and Direct Resource inside 未 adds backing through learning, mentors and organising knowledge. For a Bing leaning strong the same Fire may tip into excess: competitiveness, wanting to do everything yourself, spending energy and resources on other people's goals. In the tradition Rob Wealth is linked with competition and shared control of resources — worth keeping in mind in partnerships. Hurting Officer in the main qi gives energy an outlet through public speaking, creative work and improving processes, but calls for care with wording. If the chart has 巳 or 午, the 巳午未 Fire seasonal combination amplifies this theme. The Water months at the end of the year, 亥 and 子, bring Power (Seven Killings and Direct Officer) for Bing and may balance the excess Fire. Whether support or excess prevails depends largely on the current Luck Pillar.
Ding 丁 (Yin Fire) Day Master
For Ding, the stem 丁 is Friend, the main qi 己 is Eating God and the hidden 乙 is Indirect Resource. The year's stem repeats the Day Master: in the tradition such a year highlights independence, a circle of equals and partnership on equal terms. Eating God in the main qi is calm, substantive self-expression, and Indirect Resource is unconventional knowledge and self-directed learning. The period may favour your own projects and passing on experience. A 丁 leaning strong should keep in mind a tendency towards stubbornness and staying within a closed circle; for one leaning weak the year usually provides support. If the day pillar is itself 丁未 (for example, for people born on 9 March 1985), the annual pillar fully repeats the day pillar: in the tradition the themes of the spouse palace and of the person themselves stand out more in such a year. The summer months 丙午 and 丁未 add even more Fire, while the Water months 亥 and 子 at the end of the year bring the theme of Power and structure.
Wu 戊 (Yang Earth) Day Master
For Wu, the stem 丁 is Direct Resource, the main qi 己 is Rob Wealth and the hidden 乙 is Direct Officer. Fire produces Earth, and the Earth of 未 is Wu's own element, so on the whole the year supports 戊. For a Wu leaning weak the period may favour study, gaining qualifications, and relying on mentors and a stable environment. For one leaning strong the same year may add inertia and heaviness — lots of support, little movement — and it is worth deliberately seeking tasks with a tangible result. In the tradition Rob Wealth in the main qi means competition and shared control of resources, so clarity in agreements helps. Direct Officer in the hidden 乙 is a quiet theme of responsibility and structure that may show up as a role, deadlines or obligations to a team. For a Wu leaning strong, the Metal and Water months — 申, 酉, 亥 and 子 in the second half of the year — usually act as a counterweight, when Output and Wealth come to the fore. Much here depends on the current Luck Pillar.
Ji 己 (Yin Earth) Day Master
For Ji, the stem 丁 is Indirect Resource, the main qi 己 is Friend and the hidden 乙 is Seven Killings. As for 戊, the year brings Resource and your own element. For a 己 leaning weak this is usually support: the period favours self-directed learning, unconventional skills and working with equals. For one leaning strong it is worth noting the excess of Earth — a tendency to hold on to the familiar and to postpone decisions. In the tradition Indirect Resource is linked with intuition and unusual knowledge, but also with distraction when there is too much Resource. Seven Killings in the hidden 乙 is implicit pressure from circumstances, which in the tradition can temper: the year's Fire turns that pressure into Resource (Seven Killings produce Resource, and Resource produces the Day Master). The 未 branch repeats the main qi 己, so the theme of independence is pronounced. The autumn months 申 and 酉 bring Output for Ji — Hurting Officer and Eating God — and are usually a convenient time to turn what the year has accumulated into results.
Geng 庚 (Yang Metal) Day Master
For Geng, the stem 丁 is Direct Officer, the main qi 己 is Direct Resource and the hidden 乙 is Direct Wealth. The tradition considers "Officer producing Resource" a harmonious combination: the year's demands and responsibilities are backed by support and knowledge. The period may favour growth within a structure, formal qualifications and steady work under clear rules. Fire controls Metal, so a 庚 leaning weak should take the load into account and decide in advance which obligations are really theirs. The Earth of 未 nourishes Metal and softens the pressure. For a Geng leaning strong, by contrast, the year's Fire usually helps channel decisiveness into action and give it shape. Direct Wealth in the hidden 乙 is a theme of stable results and order in resources. The hidden 乙 and the 庚 Day Master form the 乙庚 stem combination, which the tradition reads as an attraction towards the theme of Wealth. The summer months 午 and 未 add Fire and make the theme of demands more visible; the autumn months 申 and 酉, months of your own element, usually bring support and confidence.
Xin 辛 (Yin Metal) Day Master
For Xin, the stem 丁 is Seven Killings, the main qi 己 is Indirect Resource and the hidden 乙 is Indirect Wealth. A flame 丁 and precious metal 辛 make, in the tradition, an image of cutting a gem: pressure that can either temper or tire. Seven Killings are linked with abrupt challenges and the need to pull yourself together, while Indirect Resource in the main qi helps turn them into skill — the tradition calls this "Killings producing Resource". The period may favour demanding tasks, unconventional learning and work under tight deadlines. A 辛 leaning weak should keep the risk of overload in mind and leave a reserve of energy. For a Xin leaning strong the same Fire usually gives shape and direction. Indirect Wealth in the hidden 乙 stands for flexible opportunities and projects that are best not taken on beyond measure. The summer months 丙午 and 丁未 intensify the pressure of Fire, while the autumn months 申 and 酉 restore the support of your own element. In such a year it helps to separate outside expectations from your own goals.
Ren 壬 (Yang Water) Day Master
For Ren, the stem 丁 is Direct Wealth, the main qi 己 is Direct Officer and the hidden 乙 is Hurting Officer. The year's stem forms the 丁壬 stem combination with the Day Master, which the tradition reads as an attraction towards the themes of resources and partnership. The period may favour putting affairs in order, regular income and work within a structure with clear responsibility. Earth controls Water and Fire draws on its strength, so a 壬 leaning weak should take the load into account and lean on Metal and Water if the Luck Pillar brings them. For a Ren leaning strong, by contrast, the year's structure usually helps channel its scope into action. In the tradition Hurting Officer next to Direct Officer is a combination in which it pays to watch your tone towards rules and management: a wish to improve everything may come across as a challenge. In the second half of the year the Metal and Water months — 申, 酉, 亥 and 子 — usually provide support, as your own element and Resource come back into balance.
Gui 癸 (Yin Water) Day Master
For Gui, the stem 丁 is Indirect Wealth, the main qi 己 is Seven Killings and the hidden 乙 is Eating God. It is a year of opportunities and demands at once: in the tradition Indirect Wealth is linked with flexible projects and an eye for a chance, and Seven Killings with pressure from circumstances and the need to act quickly. In the tradition Eating God in the hidden 乙 "tames" Seven Killings: calm skill and clear communication help handle the load. The period may favour project work and tasks where resourcefulness is valued. Fire and Earth drain and control Water, so a 癸 leaning weak should keep the risk of overload in mind and avoid taking on too much at once; support usually comes from Metal and Water in the chart or the Luck Pillar. For a Gui leaning strong, by contrast, the year usually offers a useful outlet for energy through projects and tangible results. The months 亥 and 子 at the end of the year bring your own element and usually ease the load.

Frequently asked questions
When does 2027 begin in BaZi?
At the moment of Lichun — 04.02.2027 at 06:46 Tashkent time. January and early February 2027 still belong to the 丙午 year. The 丁未 year lasts until Lichun on 04.02.2028.
Why doesn't the description of my Day Master match how the year feels?
The Day Master section is only a general layer. A year changes noticeably depending on Day Master strength, favourable elements, the current Luck Pillar and the branches of your chart. So the same year can play out differently for two people with the same Day Master.
Are the Year of the Goat and the 丁未 year the same thing?
The Goat is the animal of the 未 branch and serves only as an illustration. In BaZi a year is described by its stem-and-branch pair and read through the Ten Gods relative to the Day Master, not through the animal.
